Fun Fact

Here's something quirky about me:

I hate awkwardness.

I mean, yes, it can be funny. Like when you witness something awkward with a friend and then you turn to each other and start laughing. Or when someone is talking to you and makes an awkward comment and you both realize its awkward and are practically dying inside. Or (and this one is kind of mean) when for example a guy you don't like is trying to hit on you and you are just sitting there like, 'oh my gosh take a hint!' and then you share with your girlfriends later.

But I cannot handle awkward situations in my entertainment. That dramatic irony it has going on, where we, the audience, knows its completely and utterly horribly awkward but the character is "living" through it? I cringe. I cover my eyes and ears and hum to myself. I pause to recollect and prepare myself to watch it. I fast forward or skip to another channel for the duration of the awk.

This is why I find shows like "The Office" and "Modern Family" so hard to watch. Or why when I was watching "Confessions of a Shopaholic" earlier I had to pause when Rebecca was pretending to speak Finnish. And when Derek Smeath finally confronted her. I get so squeamish and feel so bad and awkward with the character that I just can't handle it.

This is probably because I am so well aware that I was horribly awkward (at least when it came to boys) pretty much up until college. And even then, some moments came slipping through like the time I asked a boy to a formal at an ATM after having already said goodbye and driven away.

I can be so awk.com sometimes it's scary.
