I have a serious pet peeve these days.
Being a recent(ish) college graduate, my friends are in all stages of their lives. Some are married and having children, some are moving on from first jobs and getting engaged, some are enjoying/hating their first job and moving around the country, and some are still in school. A lot of big things are happening in a lot of peoples lives, and I love that I can keep up with friends thanks to the plethora of social networking sights out there.
My peevishness comes when they share, but not really.
A number of friends have recently been getting jobs, and immediately they announce it on the FB. What they don't announce, however, is what they are doing, where they are doing it, when they are doing it, etc etc. I'm super pumped to read "GOT THE JOB! I AM SO EXCITED!" but not so pumped to see 50 comments saying "congrats!! more info!" or "awesome! doing what?" with no response.
The reason I am bringing this up: A girl in my sorority who just graduated this past May announced it on her FB status that she had gotten the job, would be working in NY and moving to CT. UM! Hello, hi! I live in NY! where in NY?!? Obviously not too close to me if she's gonna be in CT, but still! Deets sister!
I guess maybe some people don't want to share the details, but most eventually do. I just don't get why you can't do it straight out. You know everyone is going to ask anyway. Is this just one's (not specifically this girls) way of garnering more attention? Or maybe they're just too excited about getting it to realize they're being vague.
Whatever it is, figure it out, and share a little better.
I can't believe you have friends her are getting married and having kids CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteOMG! How did I not know you lived in NY? I would've loved to meet up when I lived there! What I think is crazy are the girls whose facebook profile pictures are them in their cap gowns and then like a month later, it's them in their wedding dresses. Slow down.
