Presenting: Present Yourself

A blogger I stalk follow is doing something kind of really neat.

I first stumbled across Will over at The Momentum of Failure when he was doing a giveaway with Knot Belt Co and Status Bro back last Labor Day (somewhere on this blog-I'm too lazy to search at the moment-I did a post about winning based on a story about my family reunions). From there, I stuck with him, and soon he started a really cool project called One Hundred Days of Ties. His goal there was to wear a tie every work day for 100 days straight. Not only that, but he encouraged others to get in on the action as well through picture submissions and sharing. Unfortunatly, I am not quite a style maven, so while I was thoroughly engrossed every day looking at the ties and the general sense of thought, care and concern these individuals put into their outfit and tie choices, I honestly had, and still have, no idea how to work a tie into my outfit in my job. So I watched a really cool community grow from the outside.

This project has since wrapped up, and Will has put a new one on the table: Present Yourself. Present Yourself has no ending, no real style guidelines or anything (like the tie), but rather gives people an opportunity to share their style and their choices and the opportunity to explain the why behind them. So you can share things like my previous share on here (once again-too lazy to link) about how I like dressing professional partially because of the opportunity I get to wear my work clothes to the grocery store and go clickity-clacking down the aisles in my heels. Or how I don't actually get to do that in winter weather.

So I went for it today. Skulked to the bathroom with my BB (OH MY GOSH just wait until I fill y'all in on that, it's on my list) and took a picture where I look angry and you could see the sink until I cropped it out. Then sent it, along with a general why description to Will. And while I don't think it's up or anything, at least as I type this, I was glad I shared. And that I might have the chance to be on the inside of this community.

So I am sharing this with you in hopes that it catches your interest, seems like something you might want to do, and you'll click on the link above to Will's blog and share your style story and the why behind it. Whether you do it once, or 10 times, or every day for the forseeable future, is not for me to decide. But I highly suggest at least checking it out. Because that is at least a little bit of what this whole blog thing is about isn't it? exploring and sharing and putting yourself out there.

And if you're one of those faceless bloggers, that is okay. Just crop your head out, like I cropped out the sink.

  1. I started following Will when he was doing 100 days of ties, and now I am lost in the sauce :( I still follow him on twitter, but must have un-followed him somehow on blogger? Thanks for the head's up. I'm off to catch up with him now!
