Jah jah jah!!
Lets all time warp a little back to about a week ago, when yours truly was home for the Thanksgiving break. Things happened. A good amount of shopping (for me and for others-yay gifties!!), a large amount of yummy food (I brought Berger Cookies back to the office-everyone loved and cursed me in the same breath) and of course, the big ol' 5 year reunion for my high school.
Back in October we had Green and White weekend, the official reunion weekend, but my class, being the fabulous class we are, couldn't get our act together in time to plan a 5 year party. And of course, on 3-4 of us came to events over the weekend, so it was a great big bust. Some awesome ladies stepped it up and planned a party for us as well as the '05-ers from our brother school for the Friday night after Thanksgiving in downtown b-more.
I rolled in from the county at about 8:15 to find about 5 guys and the girl who planned the event were the only ones there. Almost got concerned, but people started rolling in, and eventually we ended up with about 40-50 people total in attendance. Really awesome turnout from both classes.
I came into this thinking I wasn't going to enjoy it-I even had plans to head out after an hour to meet some friends at a local Magic Bar (I KNOW, RIGHT?! magic bar!!) but it was really fun. Everyone was just so happy to see each other and see what was up, and so few let their own attitudes get in the way of the fun. I had a great reunion with a girl I had a HUGE falling out with junior year-it was like it hadn't even happened. It was kind of nice to let time heal that. I also got to see a couple of people who had just completely fallen off my radar, and it was so nice to friend some of these friendships can just revamp themselves.
So here's where my attitude from the frustrated post come from: I was texting a friend who graduated the year before us all telling him how I noticed from this reunion that he really is one of the only people I still talk to from high school, and he mentioned that he was downtown too (though I won't tell you where-awkys). At this point I suggested that I thought he should come down to where we were after they were done-other people from other classes were going to show up, it was going to be fun, and based on who he lives with in FL, I figured he was with some other HS alums that would want to come too. He said they would come.
About 45 minutes later, I got a text saying, "we're here, where are you?" I immediately stopped a conversation and proceeded to run around the entire bar (its kind of large with multiple floors and bars within hte bar) and could not find him or his friends anywhere, so I texted him asking where he was. At this point, I began to get random words that had no meaning, a picture of him looking lost and "confused" and then I pretty much gave up, saying "well you aren't here so I guess I won't see you." Then he seemed disappointed that I wasn't going to try to find him. What?
Anyway, save for that little interlude, I had so much fun. I saw a couple people from college that I wasn't expecting to see, my big and her friends came and played, and then I made my way back home.
I had such a great break-Sunday I completely dreaded coming back up here. I have plans (mostly anyway) to head back down for Christmas and New Years, then a whole new year is upon us!! I can't believe 2010 is wrapping up so quickly.
Must get to bed and pretend it's a decent hour-tomorrow morning isn't going to be fun.
smooches!
