What Snow Means...

Folks, I am on day 5 of some serrrious snow fall-age and am officially getting tired of it. Though I have almost perfected the car clean in the morning (still need to work on the windshield wiper process), every morning is feeling more and more treacherous and like a chore. Did I mention, I have some serious hills to battle in my efforts to get to and from work? I am officially afraid of hills.

So in light of my growing distaste, I thought I might try and turn it around and think of all the positive things that snow means to me...
1) Snow means that lacrosse season is right around the corner, or in my case, possibly in season.
2) Winter holidays are here! I didn't feel Christmas-y until the snow started on Sunday.
3)Snuggling in bed or sitting by the fire. My parents have tons of windows and their bed looks right out over the yard. Many a morning was spent in that bed watching the snow fall.
4) Snow days! Elementary and Middle school meant "Hereford Zone" days-the school district went right up to the PA line, so our weather was different from the rest of the county...there was nothing like hearing "Baltimore County two hours late, Hereford Zone, closed" on the TV in the morning. My high school believed more in the "make your own decision" process, but we still got time off.
5) Sledding down April Hill. Not the walking back up part. Tabogan rides with my father, mother and siblings. Creating awesome slick paths. Bailing. Making jumps. The dogs chasing you as you go down the hill.
6) Hot Chocolate and Popcorn. Those are my two favorite things to warm up with after being out in the snow.
7) Warm Clothes! Immediately after playing outside I would come in and dump everything in the dryer. So awesome putting those back on again.

Thats all for now. I can look out the window and not feel as much depression welling up inside of me. Maybe I'm getting a touch of S.A.D...fight it off!

  1. This just made me feel all cozy! Snow is amazing, but after 5 days I can imagine it getting a little old. Especially when it gets all black and slushy.
