Easter

Aloha and Happy Easter everyone! I hope that the easter bunny treated you well.

I woke up this morning to a phone call from my mommy wishing me a happy Easter. We may or may not have sung hymns to each other. No biggie. The phone call was great though, because it ended right around 9:00 am, but I was sufficiently awake and with plenty of time to (bum bada dum!) get ready for church.

I have been living in o-town for just over a year now, and hadn't figured out the whole church thing. I must confess, it's not as if I was a big church goer at home, or during college, or after I was confirmed...I used to fall asleep during confirmation class. I'm more of a sleeper. Even if I've done nothing Saturday night and went to bed early, I'm still tired that "early". So I didn't really think about church when I moved. Recently however, I've just wanted something. Even if it is just for the hymns.

So I gathered myself up today after the phone call with my mommy, got dressed for Easter and headed out. early. In case it was packed, I wanted a seat. Turns out that wasn't a problem!

The service was lovely, the sermon was amusing and meaningful, but it was still a little different from what I am used to. Much more singing of the service than I suppose I appreciate. I would like to go back again, a few more times. Just to see if it's something I think I would like to continue to do. But it's a start, I guess. Easter definitely has some of my favorite hymns, no lie. And it was a good place to start.

So now I am celebrating Easter by watching movies on Lifetime (though not Lifetime movies) and drinking lots of Cherry Coke Zero from my new Tervis. Easter gift to me, I guess you could say.

Happy Easter, everyone.
