The Wonders of Modern Technology

I am in a love/hate relationship with technology right now. I'm feeling somewhat ridiculous, and that needs to be solved stat.

A few weeks ago I mentioned to my mom that I was thinking that maybe I wanted half an iPad for my birthday. As in, because they are pretty darn expensive and that is  HUGE GIFT and multiple times our kid Christmas budget, I would pay for half of it. I told her I'd look into it and send her info.

Looking into it, however, has led me to some conclusions. The biggest one being that I think I really only want one to play Words With Friends. I already have a laptop, I got a kindle for Christmas, I have an iPod that is loved so much that it's on my "leaving my house" checklist (phone, keys, wallet, iPod. That order. Daily.) Since I've been given to understand that the highlights of a tablet, specifically the iPad, are internet, e-reader, music, and the apps, I'm down to the apps being all I'm in it for. Out of all the apps in the world, what am I most dying to play? Words With Friends.

I. Am. Pitiful.

So now I'm really thinking that the whole iPad thing isn't the direction I want to go down. I'm already annoyed enough when I'm logged into gmail and get an email just to have my phone go off with the same email two  seconds earlier/later. Or when it happens with Facebook. or Twitter. (speaking of this, BB users, is there a way to make this stop!?!?!) I promise my phone will be a lifesaver come this fall when I'm not in front of the computer all day every day, but right now I want to strangle some of these inanimate objects. 

(side note: does anyone know if there is a way to turn off email notifications from lets say ooh, 10 pm to 8 am? Let me know.)

Alright so the iPad idea is down the drain. But now what?? What do I want? I have no idea. I was thinking about a new TV (legit, mine is a piece. I bought it from a guy for $40 the summer before my senior year. Because he had bought a massive flat screen. It's like a 20-inch box of death.) but that seems so...not what I want for my birthday. So help. give me suggestions and ideas. I am stuck!!

Moving on past the Negative Nancies, here is why I am loving technology right now.

My future SIL (always the shout outs-hiii Lauren! Look! Blogging! ha) and I have been all over gchat recently and were talking yesterday about this weekend. I was already planning to spend the weekend up in Alder Creek because the weather was supposed to be gorgeous (not anymore, jerks) and we started planning for it to be a mini vacation. Menu planned and everything. She ran it by my brother last night, and all systems are a go! So this Friday after work I'll be grabbing a bag, packing a cooler, and heading my booty up for what was supposed to be sunny and high 70's/80's but is now looking like rain (Saturday) and low 70's (Sunday). Whatevs, I get to see my brother and FSIL!

Perhaps soon we'll discuss all the maladies that come with my attempts at running/jogging/walking. WHO'S IN??
