As baseball season starts up, I figured it was time to let you all in on a little secret of mine.
I'm an Orioles Fan.
Yes, thats right. I am a fan of one of the more worse (worser? not the worst...) teams in baseball. I feel the urge to scream, "OHHHH!" every time I hear the National Anthem, no matter where I am, and will most likely say it softly to myself. I come from a pretty substantial baseball history, with recent memory serving as the worst teams we've fielded to date. I always tell people that being an Orioles fan is the best-if we lose, everyone expects it, and if we win (especially if we beat the Yankees or the Red Sox) I get to celebrate jubilantly and rub it in peoples faces be gracious because it doesn't happen too too often.
I get tickets dirt cheap-its cheaper for a Yankees fan to make a trip down to Baltimore for a game than to try and get into any home games for the Yankees. Even a home game against a team like the Orioles. Every Friday home game is a student night with tickets at $8-and to be honest, there are no bad seats at a baseball game. I've been on the jumbo-tron, I've cheered for Mustard to beat Ketchup and Relish, and I've shouted "Luuuuuuuuuuke" and booed Mark Teixeira (hometown boy who was a big meanie to the O's when he chose to go to the Yankees over his hometown club).
And while I may not have the best team in the Major Leagues, I have one of the youngest and most promising. As well as one of the most attractive teams out there. If you doubt me, please check out: Craig Tatum, Matt Wieters, Brian Matusz, Nolan Reimold, Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, Brian Roberts or Luke Scott.
Ummm...yes please, thank you.
as the song says: root root root for the home team...
