I think the man has been in office for round abouts a year, and that people were expecting to see the promised change immediately. The immediate change hasn't happened, which has left people worried, uncertain, and concerned that the promises will not be upheld.
Patience. Thats what I think we need. Everyone needs to take a deep breath. Maybe to understand that, in a world where you can be across the country in a matter of hours, you can get instant communication through video chatting, twitter, facebook, etc., and we are constantly being inundated with the promise of more more more right now now now, some things just take time. You know, that whole "Rome wasn't built in a day" kind of junk.
I understand that you may or may not agree with what our president is doing. You may or may not have voted for him. But how helpful is it to pull him down and rip him up? Support him as the president of your country. He's here until at least the end of 2012. Do you want to spend the next 3 years seeing nothing getting done because no one can support anyone else? Support all of your government. You have a democratic president, you might have a republican governor, and an independent mayor. Look at each individual not for their party, but what they can bring to the lives of you and those around you.
I may or may not agree with what was said tonight. I just think that regardless of everything, its not fair to jump down his throat like so many people do.
I really do agree that bipartisanship-ness is the way to go (and I know that I am idealistic here to some extent). I think it would be smarter to start small, gain the confidence and trust of not only those around you in Washington, but the public in general. Then try introducing the big changes. Really listen to those opposing you, instead of seeing them as just trying to stop you from pushing through your agendas. Find equal ground. What is it? A good compromise should have both parties walking away grumbling. You can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need (Thanks Mic).
Patience. Please.
