We are less than 2 hours away from Ash Wednesday, and I still don't know what I am giving up for Lent.
Not that I am the most super religious person in the world. Heck, tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and I'll be spending it in the car, traveling, without going to any service before (or after, not that I would even know where to go anyways).
But Lent...Its kind of part of what's ingrained in me. If I can celebrate the wonderful times in my religion (Episcopalian, if you are wondering) with Easter and Christmas, I can also endure the not so great, aka giving up something for Lent. You have to take the good with the bad kind of deal, you know?
So what to give up? Definitely #1 on my list should be soda. We don't have it often at home, but when we go out, and when I'm at work, I just gravitate towards it. Even if it's diet, its still soda people.
Another one I am contemplating is buying coffee from stores. I always am going to Starbucks or Caribou Coffee, and it's a waste of money. The only thing here is, the coffee I get at home is the leftovers from M&D's morning coffee, and sometimes there isn't any left, and I feel wasteful. And once again, traveling, if I want the coffee, I'm buying it.
My third thought is giving up my unhealthy eating habits. I am working towards a better diet (I have eaten breakfast I think everyday since the year started!) but I could be doing more. If dinner is unhealthy, make myself a salad or something instead, that kind of thing. The only issue here is I don't want to burden my parents financially with me making them buy more because dinner will be two separate meals.
I think we're looking at soda. And on top of that, not only give up soda for Lent, but drink more water too.
Speaking of my unhealthy habits though, today I had a surprisingly awesome lunch! It was really simple- I made myself a salad of romaine lettuce and torn up pieces of deli sliced turkey with blue cheese dressing. I am always a little hesitant when it comes to meat in my salad, but I've had it before so I thought, 'why not?' and it worked out awesome!!
So like I said, I am off tomorrow around 11 to make my trek to the great white (mid) north. I am really really so excited about this interview, so please cross your fingers and send out good vibes on Thursday for me!
love you more than a brutal boxing class.
