According to my Father...

...Bisby has separation anxiety.

I did not know dogs could have this?

We've been having big issues with her because she has to be left inside when no one is home (the electric fence is down) and she destroys EVERYTHING. Yesterday I left the house for a half-hour tops and when I came home, she had pulled some necklaces my mother had made off of a (kind of high) table and had torn up 3 of them. She has also in the past destroyed dog beds, mail, gotten into the trash, everything. we have her confined to the family room and the kitchen, but there is nowhere in the house we can put her where she wouldn't wreck the room.

Dad did some research yesterday, and it is confusing. The SA people say that crating is an option for this problem, but crating people say that it should not be used for this. She can also be medicated but thats a little too weird, I think. A little to close to sedating her.

The only piece of advice that seemed to make sense was that when leaving the house to not make a big deal of it, but when it involves letting the other dogs out and keeping her in, its kind of obvious what's going on. I think once we get the electric fence fixed and her trained to it, problem solved. But for now, there needs to be another step.

Has anyone ever heard of this in animals or experienced? Any thoughts on what to do? I love Bisby, and I hate having to yell at her, but yesterday was really, really bad.
