First things first. I owe you a double My Music Friday for my forgetfulness from last week. First one. Since I wanted to put this up last time and then got distracted by another song, I present to you, a song probably all of you have already heard but I love it anyway, "Party In The USA" by Miley Cyrus. This is a special one, however. I saw this a couple weeks ago on the blog Here and Now-The Rest Will Fall Into Place. Watch the video. It should make you smile.
The second song I want to give you is a little different than the first one. It's called "Nothing Like You and I" by The Perishers. I heard it on an episode of Greek on ABC Family (love that show!) and immediately bought it on iTunes. It's a song that just sounds sad. I would listen to this song without the lyrics.
So there you have your two songs for this Friday! Onto the life update-y-ness.
Today, in a very good moment for myself, I joined a gym. Cue the trumpets and the happy dances.
I am very very excited. The gym membership was pretty darn not-so-bad, expense-wise. Because I joined in September, they had a special in which they waived the one time $149.99 membership joining fee, so that was a huge relief. As well, I have two free orientation workouts with a personal trainer, and I already have one appointment for Monday morning! I got the membership that allows me to visit any of their locations, and one is right by the preschool I substitute at, and the other is near-ish to the part-time job I hope to be getting, so that is wonderful. A friend of mine is also a member, so we already have a workout date planned for tomorrow! AND here is a the really dorky, but really awesome thing: all of their cardio machines? Yeah, they all have mini HD televisions hooked up, and if necessary they provide headphones! I have my own (ew, earwax) but still!! So crazy. I plan to use this to its fullest.
Before I went over to join, however, I decided to get in my post subbing run around the schools' campus (there is one preschool, one lower school, two middle schools and two upper schools on the campus-I once overheard someone at a lacrosse game say that is could be a college campus) by running the gates. Starting at the bottom entrance, uphill to the top entrance, then back down to the back entrance and back. As I headed down to the bottom gate to start, a guy cut into the parking lot walking in front of me and turned and looked at me. Um, hi guy that graduated the same year as me and I was pretty good friends with. Turns out he is subbing and coaching. Pretty cool. This is my third encounter with someone from high school in the past week. I went about 4 months not seeing anyone and now this! Weird. Crazy. Interesting. He, however, is someone I wouldn't mind hanging out with. We'll see.
I need to sleep now, because tomorrow is a day of actually being productive! I need to go to the bank, do laundry, and I am subbing again in the afternoon followed by my workout! Yay yay yay.
