Lose The Crazy

So I figured I should maybe update you all instead of confusing and possibly scaring you with my freaked out post.

This weekend was nice, yet ever so long. This is the first time I have ever driven up to NY on my own, and the longest car trip I have ever done alone. And thats not saying much, as it's only about a 7 hour drive (10 today, more on that later).

We took the lovely Bisby up with us, and she went swimming! Not only that, but she literally JUMPED off the dock on the first try! She is the first dog we have had to do that, and though she only did it twice, everyone was thrilled!

She was completely exhausted, especially after day 2! She spent both Saturday and Sunday night with me because my parents were staying in a room without a door, and I only had to walk her once on Sunday night. What a blessing.

So on Monday after a night of...crazy, my parents left around 10 am for home and I left around 12 pm for Saranac Lake. You all caught up with me there.

Let me explain my mini freak out. And let me preface my mini freak out by saying, yes, I know I wasn't going to die, and that the hotel wasn't haunted, but I am very good at working myself up sometimes.

So like I said, I went to the second floor and got off to an empty ballroom-like room and an empty bar. And it was dark, and I was the only one there, and I don't know why, but immediately I pictured Jack Nicholson at the empty bar ordering his drink and the bartender ghost man suddenly being there. And then I pictured the end of the movie where you see that he was in the photo from the picture at one of the balls hosted by the hotel. And suddenly I am in the moment of The Shining, and it was just one of those moments where you know nothing is going wrong, but you are still really freaked out because you've made that connection. So everything about the hotel suddenly was comparable. I got back to my room, locked the door, and then also proceeded to avoid my bathroom for a while (hello, creepy dead woman in the tub scene). Eventually I got over myself, but damn you Jack Nicholson for playing such a convincing crazy man.

So the next morning I woke up and got to my interview in good time. Spent 3 hours going through everything, and I don't want to jinx it so once I find out I will share how I thought it went. After it was over, I got back in my car and immediately started making the three hour drive back down to Alder Creek. I got stuck in some mini traffic and took some pictures of the beautiful views in Blue Mountain Lake.

If all traffic had views like this, I wouldn't mind so much. Just to mention, if I were to work at this job, they are right on a lake, and I would see views like this every day.

Made it back to Alder Creek, and decided in that time that I didn't care and I would be going home tonight. Grabbed he rest of my stuff from my room, made myself a sandwich, called my mom, and headed out. The first part of the trip wasn't bad, very rural, lovely little towns with goooorgeous houses. Then I hit Binghamton, and got dinner at the most amazing place ever.

I got a chicken caesar spiedie, and texted my sorority sister Nicole to tell her I was there and I missed her (she is from that area). Fabulous. Amazing. Totally worth the 20 minutes to sit down and eat it.

From there forward it was a pretty horrible drive. I-81 South in Pennsylvania is torture. The majority of it is construction, and trucks don't seem to understand that they aren't the only ones on the road. Half of the trucks I went by I was praying that they didn't move over the 20 inches that separated us from crashing. It was no fun, and made me thankful for the I-81 south corridor I am used to-Winchester, VA and down. I made it home around 10:15 pm, after leaving my interview at 12:20-ish. considering the pit stops to eat and get gas, I would say excellent time.

To end, I will leave you with some further adorable pictures of my wonderful puppy.
